What's the skinny on rehearsals?

show day_-_laughing

Cascade Harmony rehearses weekly, on Monday nights (except holidays) at 6:30PM until 9:30, at the Clark Commons building at Marylhurst University, located just 9 miles miles south of downtown Portland.

We know how valuable our members' time is so our weekly rehearsals are  fast-paced, interesting, planned in advance and structured to meet the goals of our ensemble. They start with an upbeat, physical warmup (get the body movin'!), followed by about 15- 20 minutes of focused vocal skill building. We dive into a variety of work on new music and existing repertoire that might include sectional breakouts, duetting parts, fine-tuning harmonies, educating members about four-part chord structures and more.

In addition to weekly rehearsals, before shows or competitions we often have an all-day Saturday rehearsal

to make sure the ensemble is the very best it can be.

Since it takes a 'village' to run our chorus, there's always a business meeting that covers fund-raising, social activities, upcoming performances, costume info and more.

We have several talented musicians in the ensemble who are part of our Musical Leadership team and work with our director, Sandy Cahill. During vocal skill building, when we hone our performing skills, or pretty much any time we can, we utilize the incredible talent among our membership.

The bottom line is we love to sing... but sing well! Our talented Musical team is always available to help new members learn the ropes, veterans get in touch with new vocal techniques and assist in any way they can.
